Captain Elvy

The west coast tattooist, "Sailor" George Fosdick, did "Captain" Elvy's back piece in 1943 as shown here.

The Archive has very little historical background on Captain Elvy. We do know that he worked as a tattoo attraction, and maybe possibly as a tattooist in the 1940s and was seen with the Wallace Bros. sideshow in 1943.

Through the years Fosdick worked with many tattooists including Larsen (Sailor Walter) Waldemar and Prof. Bert Grimm.
