Joe Queen

Joe Queen was known in the tattoo world as "The Original Kokomo Joe." Joe worked in Junction City, Kansas as well as in Clarksville, Tennessee. Tex Rowe said that Queen learned tattooing from Col. William Todd while in Clarksville.

In Junction City Queen set-up at Jack's Smokehouse and offered tattoos starting at 50 cents. The illustration seen here is from the Vern Ingarmarson Collection, done by a quick sketch artist on a sideshow, c.1940s.
